PROJECT IN DADAAB REFUGEE CAMP 2011

PROJECT IN DADAAB REFUGEE CAMP 2011

On 28 November 2011 our products have been sent to refugee camp in Dadaab (Kenya) in response to the humanitarian crisis looming in the Horn of Africa region. In cooperation with the Polish Center for International Aid (PCPM) and Foundation for Somalia, AIDPOL participated in the project “Humanitarian assistance to Somali refugees affected by the food insecurity – provision of  cooking and heating meals sets” co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.  Within the framework of the project close to 11 tons of cooking kits and extra cooking fuel supplies have been distributed to 4800 families in the camp. The refugees were provided with access to warm meals without the need of searching for cooking fuel and affecting natural environment. Additional benefit of the project included saving between 800-900 tons of trees that have been spared from cutting by refugees looking for sources of cooking fuel.

The above project was implemented by the Polish Center for International Aid in cooperation with Foundation for Somalia and Kenyan partner organisation. It was co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. Click here to view project pictures.
